Jadon Sancho

Manchester United legend Andy Cole has spoken about Jadon Sancho and what he is expected to bring to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.

After a long-winded transfer saga, Sancho was finally made official by United on Friday in a £73million deal.

The former Manchester City youth team player enjoyed a brilliant spell at Borussia Dortmund before moving to the red side of Manchester, contributing towards 114 goals in 137 games for the Bundesliga outfit.

Cautious optimism at Arsenal summer transfer business…

Speaking to MUTV, Cole has said what he believes Sancho can bring to the side:

“Yeah, a quality young player [Sancho]. He’ll bring a lot to Man United, he’ll bring spark, a lot of attacking flair,” he said.

“He could say he’s a bit of an old fashioned winger. He’ll get crosses in, create chances and he’ll score chances himself. I think Sancho as an individual, he can go and take people on, drop his shoulder and I think we all know he’s got quite a bit of trickery in his bag.

“He’s got massive, massive confidence in his own ability, so you could always see him being prepared to take people on and create chances for his teammate.”

The 21-year-old will wear number 25 for the upcoming season, despite many fans expecting him to take Edinson Cavani’s number 7 shirt.

On completing the deal, Sancho told the club’s official website: “I’ll always be grateful to Dortmund for giving me the opportunity to play first team football, although I always knew that I would return to England one day. The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League.

“This is a young and exciting squad and I know, together, we can develop into something special to bring the success that the fans deserve. I am looking forward to working with the manager and his coaching team to further develop my game.”

Solskjaer couldn’t hide his excitement as he said that the England international will become an “integral part” of his Man Utd side for “years to come”.

Solskjaer said: “Jadon epitomises the type of player I want to bring to the club, he is a forward player in the best traditions of Manchester United. He will form an integral part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him blossom.
