After the network announced that the vice president would sit down for an interview, Trump raged on social media
Republican presidential nomineeDonald Trump, increasingly prone to temper tantrums and outbursts of violent rhetoric as the election nears, railed against his former stomping grounds, Fox News, after the network announced that his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, had agreed to an interview.
While Trump himself has been ducking out of any opportunity to answe
r hard questions, including a second debate with Harris (he resoundingly lost the first one) and a 60 Minutes interview with CBS, he has spent much of his time and energy hyperfocused on fear-mongering about immigration, repeating his desire to be a “dictator,” and insulting Harris over the amount of media attention she has been getting. Harris, meanwhile, has taken numerous opportunities to speak on a variety of different platforms including interviews with radio host Howard Stern, 60 Minutes, the popular Call Her Daddy podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, and the upcoming Fox News interview with chief political anchor Bret Baier.
Trump raged against Harris, Baier, and the conservative network on social media Monday, and lamented, “Kamala Harris has wisely chosen Bret Baier, of FoxNews, to do a much needed interview, because he is considered to be ‘Fair & Balanced,’ though often very soft to those on the ‘cocktail circuit’ Left.” The former president accused Fox of becoming “so weak and soft on the Democrats, constantly polluting the airwaves with unopposed Kamala Representatives, that it all doesn’t matter anymore.”
Despite Trump’s bitter sentiments about the network, he appeared on Fox News on Sunday for an interview with Maria Bartiromo during which she gave him free rein to spout baseless lies and failed to follow up with him when Trump floated using military forces against U.S. citizens who oppose him on Election Day. Unsurprisingly, Trump praised the Fox host for doing a “beautiful job,” while berating “one-sided, negative Democrats” for calling out his fascist plan.
Harris is set to sit down with Baier on Fox News Wednesday in Pennsylvania during the host’s Special Report at 6 p.m. ET. This will be the Democratic presidential candidate’s first formal interview on the network.
Baier previously interviewed Trump in 2023, during which he asked the former president about his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House. During the televised sit-down, Trump essentially confessed to stealing and sharing top-secret government information post-presidency. Trump’s Fox appearance at the time came a week after he was arrested and arraigned on criminal charges in the federal probe over his hoarding of the classified material.
