Jose Mourinho says his Spurs team failed to ‘kill the game’ in their close 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The North London side picked up three points as a Tosin Adarabioyo own goal proved to be the difference.
Heung-Min Son set up Dele Alli for the opener after a quick Spurs move. His flick was sent into the net by Tosin from close range.
Josh Maja was unlucky not to score the equaliser in the second half.
His left-footed strike was ruled out by VAR, as Mario Lemina was penalised for a handball in the buildup.
Speaking after the win, Mourinho told BBC Sport: “It was a tough game and we knew it. They play very well, they don’t score many but they don’t concede many either.
“We had chances to kill it and we didn’t and then the game becomes very similar to what we have had in other games.”
Both keepers made good saves to keep it at 1-0.
Speaking about their performances, Mourinho continued: “He [Hugo Lloris] is there for that. Their goalkeeper also did it, a couple of saves that would kill the game. Hugo is the best French goalkeeper and made a couple of saves to show it.”
The victory puts Spurs on 42 points after 26 matches. They’re still in contention for a top four spot but will need a successful few months to get ahead of Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool.
The North London side face Crystal Palace in their next match: “I am expecting a battle with Crystal Palace, that is the battle I am expecting, they will be very hard. One more day for them to rest than us, it is going to be hard and it is the only match in this moment.”
