The vice president raised $361 million in August, nearly three times what Trump collected
Kamala Harris raised $361 million in August, nearly three times as much cash as Donald Trump disclosed raising last month.
Since taking over the Democratic ticket, the vice president has absolutely clobbered Trump in the fundraising race — bringing in about two and a half times as much money as the former president.
Harris’ campaign and authorized committees raised $671 million in July and August, according to numbers released by her campaign on Friday. Trump’s campaign and committees brought in $139 million in July and $130 million in August, according to his team.
The latest fundraising haul underscores how Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race on July 21 and Harris’ immediate ascension to the top of the ticket have fundamentally transformed the 2024 presidential race. In the second quarter this year, before Biden exited the race, Trump reported outraising Biden.
Now, the money race isn’t even close — and Trump is having to rely more and more on support from billionaire-funded outside groups that can accept unlimited donations.

The changeover to Harris appears to have vastly improved Democrats’ chances — whereas Biden was consistently trailing in battleground state polling, Harris appears to be competitive in all of them.
The switch has also rattled Trump, who has repeatedly complained about Harris being the Democratic nominee, rather than Biden. He did so again during a Fox News town hall Wednesday night.
“He got 14 million votes, and they threw him out,” Trump said. “It was really a coup, when you think about it.”
